Okra project11/6/2022 ![]() ![]() Okra Academy is also another step toward building relationships within and providing culturally-relevant meals for the black trans community, by giving them the know-how to make delicious food themselves.īecause the disenfranchisement of black trans people is a worldwide issue, The Okra Project wanted to expand relief efforts to help those suffering outside of the U.S. #Okra project freeThis is an especially great initiative because it offers free job training to a community riddled with unemployment and homelessness though the problem is largely a systemic one, Okra Academy hopefully creates more job opportunities for some black trans people who would otherwise not have the means to train for culinary careers. Okra Academy is a weekend-long online training course where qualified chefs teach kitchen basics and easy recipes, which improves the quality of food people make in their own kitchen and teaches them skills that can help kickstart their own careers in foodservice. #Okra project how toThe next logical step from having chefs cook incredible meals for people in need is teaching the black trans community how to prepare some amazing recipes themselves. In their own words, “this work focuses on producing community efforts, providing resources, and creating affinity spaces that will encourage folks in our community to feed not just their bellies but also their souls.” They launched #FeedTheSoul to address other issues harming the community, provide a safe space and foster community. The Okra Project is finding ways to support their black trans community in addition to providing them with nutritious hot meals. On the front page of their website, they invite black trans people in need to apply and receive a minimum of $80 this effort helps support the community during this extreme time of need, where more people than ever are struggling financially.Ĭheck out their Instagram to learn more about the initiative see what resources, meals and services they offer and learn about the founders and what they have to say. They’re also offering a small COVID-19 relief fund. They take donations of any amount however as even the smallest contribution helps reach their goal. One session costs the Project $90, accounting for groceries and the chef’s salary. Thus they collaborate with local community spaces and deliver the chef’s meals to one of those locations for the beneficiaries to pick up. ![]() However, considering the rate of homelessness within the community, the Okra Project accounted for the high likelihood that those needing their services wouldn’t have a kitchen to cook out of. They create healthy, delicious food and it’s fresher than delivery. Operating via individual donations, the organization pays black trans chefs to visit black trans people’s homes and cook for them right in their kitchen. They also seek to foster a sense of community for their trans brothers, sisters and nonbinary siblings worldwide while giving them the skills they need to pursue careers in foodservice if they so choose. When coming to terms with the struggles that plague the black trans community, founders of the Okra Project decided to launch a charitable initiative that would bring home-cooked, nutritious, delicious and culturally-relevant meals into the homes of black trans people, at no cost to them. This isn’t just an American-centric problem it’s global. This disproportionate disenfranchisement means that black trans people often struggle with food insecurity, lacking the means to grocery shop or cook for themselves. poverty rate in 2015 was just 14% (Edmonds, Fellow, 2016).

Fontforge rotate selection11/6/2022 ![]() Hey, you want to design fonts? It comes with the territory. One of these is easy, but the others take considerable time and care. Instead, I have tried several semi-automated approaches, to get close to what I want. Perhaps I might eventually end up with something that looked halfway OK, but would it still have the distinctive look of the Coelacanth family? Unlikely. How does one make a bold?Ĭreating a good bold by manually dragging nodes is beyond me. So start as extreme as you can without losing the basic shapes of the glyphs. ![]() There are limits, and if you start too extreme you’ll be tempted to deform the letter-shapes substantially, so your counters don’t disappear… but those deformations aren’t a good basis for interpolation. Starting with extremes is generally a good idea, because if you can get it looking fairly good at an extreme weight it should look excellent by the time you’ve interpolated it back towards your carefully-designed regular. The bold can then be produced by interpolation, along with semi-bold, etc. ![]() So rather than start by working on a “bold”, I’m beginning with a “heavy” which is much more exaggerated. To produce the complete Coelacanth family I’m relying heavily on interpolation. I’d like Coelacanth to be versatile and meet all the common typesetting needs so it must have bold. Bruce Rogers didn’t create a bold for Centaur (on which Coelacanth is based), but we now live in an age of philistines, and bold type is ubiquitous. The Coelacanth typeface I’m creating is classic Venetian style, harking back to an age before bold type was invented. ![]() Narita boy story explained11/6/2022 ![]() ![]() For example, there’s a shoulder bash that’s only really used on one shielded enemy type, and an uppercut that’s primarily just used to hit the few enemies that fly. ![]() Rather than changing the way you approach a fight to keep things fresh, the techniques you unlock are more designed around giving you a way to deal with a specific new enemy type. That’s an alright base, but none of the abilities that you gain as you progress ever make engaging with combat any more fun. There are some really great animations, hits are impactful, and the way enemies die is super satisfying to look at – but the big problem is that, at the outset, there really isn’t much to your arsenal of moves outside of a basic three-hit sword combo, close-range shotgun blast, and powerful beam attack. They tie together the digital and physical worlds in a way that’s rather clever.Īs far as combat goes, Narita Boy looks more impressive than it actually feels to play. What’s especially neat about them is the way they help bring better understanding to the digital world that you’re playing through. Each time I unlocked one it felt like a gift I couldn’t wait to unwrap: these bite-sized story sequences are easily the highpoint of Narita Boy as a whole, as Lionel’s story is an emotional one to watch unfold, with wonderful music box-like tunes adeptly setting the tone. The real meat of it is communicated as you unlock Lionel’s memories and play through 13 really well-done flashback sequences that chronicle his life all the way from childhood to the present. However, that is a huge oversimplification of Narita Boy’s hard-to-follow overarching plot, which is bogged down with technical jargon and boring exposition dumps.įortunately though, that setup is not the main attraction of Narita Boy’s story. The boy assumes the role of the titular hero, “Narita Boy,” and sets out on an adventure to restore Lionel’s memories, defeat HIM, and save the digital world. #Narita boy story explained softwareYou play as a young boy who suddenly gets dragged into a digital world after its creator, a genius hardware and software developer named Lionel Pearl, gets his memories stolen by a malicious program known as HIM. ![]() AuthorWrite something about yourself.
